about

In 2018 I was introduced to a song called “Palm Trees” by an Australian producer named MXXWLL. I immediately gravitated towards the song and the production because as a Latina girl growing up in LA, that Westcoast g-funk vibe was right up my alley. I started following MXXWLL on Instagram and shortly after, he posted that he’d be coming to Los Angeles for a couple weeks and needed a spot to stay that also had a studio. I reached out and told him about Blue Dream Studios and he stayed here with me and Sam for a couple weeks. During those weeks, we all quickly became friends and less then a year later, Max and his now fiancé, Tammy, moved into our backhouse for almost a year. During that time, we worked on a bunch of music together including my favorite single, “Crybaby.” The track features an artist named Ill Camille, a Leimert Park legend. We were originally introduced to Camille by MXXWLL as they had collaborated together in the past and it turned out we live in the same neighborhood. When we started working on Crybaby, I immediately heard Camille’s voice on it, hit her up and asked her what she thought, and she had a verse for it in no time. I thought the whole song came together very quickly and easily which always is a good sign. “Crybaby” is an ode to my emotions. I used to be ashamed of the fact that I cry over everything (I’m starting to believe I’m an overly sensitive person), but now I realize that I just feel things very deeply. Because of that, I often have a hard time communicating my feelings without my message getting lost in my tears. Over the years though, I’ve become more comfortable with my sensitive side and I’ve learned that it’s important for everyone to nurture that part of themselves because when we cry, we’re literally releasing emotions that our bodies need to get rid of. Crying is healthy, beautiful and definitely nothing to be ashamed of.

CRYBABY LYRICS

I’ve never been good at the way that I
Deliver a message
I’m overwhelmed with everything that I’m feeling
And forget it
But here it comes again
Emotions coming down like the rain
And I ain’t gonna change
Something that I can’t contain
I don’t hold back
And you know that I can be a

Cry, cry, cry, crybaby
I wear it on my sleeve
And maybe that’s just me
I need to cry, cry, cry, cry baby
And you know that
I don’t hold back, oh…

I’ve never been the one to sit back
And maintain my composure
But when I walk in the room I’m used to my mood
Taking over
But here it comes again
Emotions coming down like the rain
And I ain’t gonna change
Something that I can’t contain
I don’t hold back
And you know that I can be a

Cry, cry, cry, crybaby
I wear it on my sleeve
And maybe that’s just me
I need to cry, cry, cry, cry baby
And you know that
I don’t hold back, oh…

(Ill Camille)
Water works, I know my worth
Ducking love, avoid getting my feelings hurt.
No cap I be all off in my bag
Poker face but even queens get sad
I got played before showing my hand, so
I fall back, I’m like autumn
Don’t call me unstable I beg your pardon
Tough as nails but hell I’m being honest
On the outside I’m trying to be the toughest
But way down I’m more like David Ruffin
Night’s like this I wish the rain drops stop
Coming down from my eyes
But I really got a lot
To let go of, I let it all poor out
Precipitate I should be straight by now
I admit I can’t keep it all in
And you can’t keep a real woman down
You know that I’m a….

Cry, cry, cry, crybaby
I wear it on my sleeve
And maybe that’s just me
I need to cry, cry, cry, cry baby
And you know that
I don’t hold back, no…
