In November of 2018, Sam Brawner and I toured in London for a month as part of The 310 Pt. 2 release tour. One of the shows we got to play was opening for PJ Morton for his sold out show at Jazz Cafe. Before we played our last song “We Go Together,” I mentioned to the crowd that this particular song was inspired by one of our favorite bands, Jamiroquai. Little did we know, one of their newest members, Nate Williams, was in the crowd that night. After the show, we connected over Instagram and the three of us scheduled a session at Nate’s studio in London almost a week later. Working with Nate was so easy, comfortable and incredibly inspiring. He knew exactly the sounds and vibe I was looking for and he helped pave the way for a new album. This song is special to me because it’s the first song we started working on for this new album, Sweet Side. <3 - Raquel
lyrics
You’re going through it lately
Feeling the pressure now
You want to stop being lazy
But you just don’t know how
Don’t let the hard times take control
Can’t let them in your way
Because “next time” and “never”
Go hand in hand so,
Don’t get caught in that game
You gotta learn to deal with the valleys
The hills will take care of themselves
Cause in this life you’ve got one thing
It’s you, and nobody else
Stop comparing your journey
To that of someone else
Take a moment to realize
The miles you’ve got under your belt
You’ve come a long way
But you haven’t even noticed (noticed)
You’re beating up yourself
Oh, but the best thing for you right now is
Nurture your mental health.
You gotta learn to deal with the valleys
The hills will take care of themselves
Cause in this life you’ve got one thing
It’s you, and nobody else

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
