Beatrice Cody & Stephen Page This song epitomizes why I (BC) love bandcamp. Follow the right fellow fan and 💥 your next favorite song magically appears in your feed. Now I’ve got this tight, funky jam on compulsive repeat, bingeing on the bassline and smoky vocals—so succinctly syncopated they almost belong to the rhythm section. Yes, this addictive groove echoes so many good musical memories—Jamiroquai, Prince, Sheila E., MJ. Thank you for brightening up my February, Raquel! Favorite track: Undone.

about

✨ In fall of 2018 Sam decided to send a really important email on a whim. He reached out to Matt Johnson, the keyboardist/producer of Jamiroqaui and basically introduced himself as a fan. They got to chatting and Matt was willing to have a session with us while we were in London on tour that fall. This was one of the coolest sessions I’ve ever had and I’m so grateful to know and have worked with Matt. He’s got an insane ear and is really in tune with the music that we’re making.

lyrics

We stuck together for about a year
But that was a year too long for me
Trying to forget those memories.
I wanna tell you how much I’ve been moving on
So many things for you to see
But I don’t wanna waste my energy.

I held you down but you held me back
Throwing my life off track
You had me feeling like I’m losing my mind
But now I’m back better than ever I

Never should’ve lied and told you that I loved you
No I never should’ve said that you would be the one (the one)
I never should’ve lied and told you that I need you
(I don’t need you)
All I needed was for us to come undone
Undone, undone
Undone

My mother told me you’re not worth my time
That I couldn’t have asked for any less
So I got tangled in your mess
I should’ve listened to her lesson of love
But when I was young I made mistakes
Had to let go of all that hate

You had me feeling like I had nothing else
Began to doubt myself
Started believing I had nothing left
But looking back on all those moments I

Never should’ve lied and told you that I loved you
No I never should’ve said that you would be the one (the one)
I never should’ve lied and told you that I need you
(I don’t need you)
All I needed was for us to come undone
Undone
Undone

No I never should’ve said that you would be the one
Never should’ve said that you would be the one
No I never should’ve lied and told you that I loved you
(No I never should’ve said it now)
No I never should’ve said that you would be the one
(oh you’re not the one)
I never should’ve lied and told you that I need you
(Never never no)
All I needed was for us to come undone
(All I need is us to come undone)
Undone

No I never should’ve lied and told you that I loved you
(No I never should’ve said it now)
No I never should’ve said that you would be the one
(oh you’re not the one)
I never should’ve lied and told you that I need you
(Never never no)
All I needed was for us to come undone, undone
(All I need is us to come undone)
